Lose, loser and lost.
A few pessimistic words that we hate to hear.
We fear âTaking the Lâ (Even sounds cringe when typing it) because of the supposed impact it has on our social status, relationships and so much more.
Whatâs striking is that we want to win but arenât willing to lose for it. Itâs as good as wanting to reach a summit without attempting the climb in the first place.
Doesnât make any sense right?
Let us break down our relationship with losing.
Losing makes you feel a range of emotions⊠disappointment to defeat and even unworthiness because of letting people down. It affects your fragile ego, lowers your self esteem, increases stress and also impairs decision making.
Does this bring back any sour memories?
Well the reason why those thoughts might be so sour is not because of your defeat itself but rather the people who witnessed and commented on it.
You see, their words and looks have imprisoned you into thinking that anything apart from a win is terrible for your social status.
The greatest test of courage is to bear defeat without losing heart ~ Robert Green Ingersoll
What people donât tell you when youâre at your lowest point is that it only gets better from here. If you lose again, then youâre already at rock-bottom anyway so donât worry about it.
Thereâs no hidden crevasse to swallow you up.
Losing is fun if youâre a sicko like me.
I learn from my mistakes and then make sure to follow the 4 Râs that I mentioned in previous editions of this newsletter.

Once you get back into the groove of things⊠please allow yourself to get desensitized to losing because I promise you that things become much more casual.
You will become more self aware with your emotions and spend less time crying over some random personâs derogatory comments towards you and instead find yourself critiquing your actions fairly before heading back to work.
Now that mindset is unbeatable.
It is the same mindset that allowed Sylvester Stallone to become the man he is today. From being broke to now having a net worth of $400 million, Sly is the epitome of what falling in love with losing can do for you.
Donât get me wrong⊠Iâm not telling you to sit back, relax and do nothing about your defeat. You should instead take it on the chin, keep your head up and stride forward.
If that isnât convincing enough then let me quickly summarize Slyâs life-story to inspire you;
At the time of his birth, he experienced a forceps accident which resulted in his speech being slurred.
He and his brother frank were adversely affected by their parentsâ hostile relationship.
Sly juggled several jobs such as a zoo keeper at central park and ushered people at the movie theatre just to make ends meet as he tried to get his foot into the door.
He had to sell his dog for just $50 due to poverty. (Donât worry, he bought Butkus back for $3000 once his film series was finalized)
Sly was offered a substantial amount for his spec script (Rocky). He refused to sell the script unless he was allowed to star in the film. Sly held onto his script despite having a pregnant wife and little money in the bank.
Two producers named Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff agreed to Slyâs demands and ladies and gentlemen, the rest is history.
âLifeâs not about how many hits you can give⊠itâs about how many you can take, and still keep moving forward.â ~ Sylvester Stallone
Remember, youâve only officially lost when you decide to give up. Every other setback is just another welcome hiccup that will do nothing but enlighten you in this fruitful journey of life.
Over and out Zoomers :)
